FOUNDER & CEO
John is Co-Founder and CEO of Windjammer Technologies, a Silicon Valley start-up providing disruptive TCO, performance, and QOS for Big Data Analytics and ML on Cloud Data Lakes. Prior to starting Windjammer, John was Vice President/Senior Fellow at SanDisk Corporation and Founder/Chairman of Schooner Information Technologies (acquired by SanDisk), where he led explorations and creation of flash-optimized databases. Prior to Schooner, John was director of Computer System Research at Sun Microsystems Laboratories where he led research teams in multi-core processors, scale-out architectures, and advanced high-performance computer systems. Prior to Sun, John was director of Computer Systems R&D at Hewlett Packard and a key member of the core team which put HP into the commercial computer business. John holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA, an M.A. in Mathematics from UCLA, an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University. John has numerous patents and publications.

Brian has a passion for data-driven performance optimization, with deep expertise in system-level performance measurement, modeling, verification and software development. His recent work involves writing flash-optimized storage engines that achieve integer-factor speedups and improved stability for Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis and Ceph. I have over 15 years of experience leading teams with a variety of personalities and skill levels to achieve timely, high quality results.
Chief Technology Officer
Kai Rothauge is a system architect and software developer at Windjammer Technologies where he develops Spark Native Execution and leads Spark cloud store checkpoint fault tolerance. Prior to Windjammer, Kai was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley in the RISELab where he developed Alchemist to accelerate Spark for Large-Scale Data Analysis by offloading to High-Performance Computing Libraries. Kai received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in Applied Mathematics, and his MMath from the University of Bath. Prior to his doctoral studies, he also completed scientific internships at the Max Planck Institute, the Fraunhofer Institute, and CSIRO.
Vice President of Engineering
Darryl Ouye always keeps Windjammer’s revolutionary tech at the forefront of innovation. Darryl began his professional career at HP developing computer systems and kernel software, and moved onto working as a VP of Engineering at various startups. His major leadership achievements include the invention and adoption of: multimedia email by US government agencies; an advanced security system deployed by large banks and corporations; a fault-tolerant router for large ISPs; and high performance database systems acquired by SanDisk.
